Tulane’s beautiful campus sets the scene for a fantastic gameday experience. The oak trees that shade these tradition-rich grounds add a southern flair to its Louisiana style architecture. But, a picturesque beauty doesn’t dampen the rowdiness that can erupt from the Green Wave faithful on football Saturdays.
Yulman Stadium is the brand new home of Tulane football, replacing their shared home with the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome downtown. While having football back on campus has reset Tulane’s gameday traditions back to a developmental mode, the foundation for building long lasting traditions is fully alive in the spirit of the Green Wave faithful.
The students gather on the wide-sprawling quad at the heart of campus to set their tents and party at a level that exceeds expectations. They wait for the marching band parade that connects Tulane to the traditions of New Orleans. Don’t be surprised to find Mardi Gras style beads tossed your way or dangling from trees. Fans gather to take part in this pep rally style event that ignites excitement in anticipation of the game.
Around campus and after scoring plays inside the stadium, you will hear the Hullabaloo chant that unites and celebrates Tulane:
