Game 250: #2 Ohio State @ #8 Wisconsin

Camp Randall Stadium is one of the most raucous stadiums in the nation. When Ohio State visits, turn up the volume from rowdy to ridiculous.  This will be the eleventh game I have seen between the Buckeyes and the Badgers, and the contests are always a national event. This one was no different as College Gameday set up its stage on Bascom Hill to highlight the game’s magnitude.

Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, and Desmond Howard had an audience of thousands packing this historic spot on campus – a bevy of boisterous Bucky and Brutus backers anxious to see another tight battle. We were fortunate to get on camera during one of the features during the show by ESPN contributor, Gene Wojciechowski. We enjoyed a small chat and conversation after the segment.

With the impending night game, fans had all afternoon to “prepare.” Of course, we wouldn’t want to miss out on such frivolity. So, from College Gameday, we enjoyed some time at the terrace on Lake Mendota, devoured some fare at State Street Brats, ventured toward Regent Street to squeeze into the rowdiness, and soaked in the sounds of the UW Band at Union South. It was the all around Badger experience.

The game – it lived up to the hype.

Wisconsin proved that Ohio State’s defense is not impenetrable and that their offense is not unstoppable. However, superstar J.T. Barrett had experience with clutch moments and high decibel crowds. His efforts pushed the game into overtime, where the Buckeyes would prevail, but where the Badgers earned respect.

It was a downer for the folks in Madison, but as one Badger once told me, “We may have lost the game, but now go out and let’s win the party!”
