The stage is set.

Hostile environments are the standard for this rivalry. A cauldron of hate brews every time these teams rendezvous. Ole Miss scored victory in their last meeting. The Golden Egg trophy would rest in their locker room until the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Matt Corral has led the Rebels to an extremely successful season. The goal would be to get to 10 wins, which had never been done in Ole Miss history. It would have to be accomplished through blankets of noise as Davis Wade Stadium traditionally becomes a cauldron of clanging cowbells.

Mississippi State played valiantly in the first half holding Ole Miss to only 10 points. However, the Bulldog offense struggled to finish many promising drives only coming away with 6 points. This would haunt the home team in the second half when Matt Corral and runningback Snoop Conner would help Ole Miss to surge ahead on the scoreboard. The Bulldogs found modicums of life in the fourth, but it was too little too late.

Ole Miss achieved their first 10 win season and hung onto the Golden Egg. Rebel fans stayed late in the stadium to celebrate with the team as they hoisted the coveted rivalry trophy. Outside of just this game, both teams experienced major improvements this season with much to look forward to in the future.
