A comfortable October day in Corvallis turned crisp as evening wrapped around Reser Stadium. Colorado State had not visited the Oregon State since 1975, and the wait was worth it.
The Beavers appeared to be separating themselves from the Rams early in the fourth quarter as they accumulated an 11 point lead. But, the visitors from Fort Collins muscled back taking a three point lead. Oregon State connected on a late field goal to send the battle into overtime.
Solid performances by QB McCoy and RB Hankerson kept the Beavers in the game and, coupled with a strong defensive effort, helped to secure the victory in the second overtime.
The energy in Reser Stadium never let up. The crowd clapped and tail slapped with a fevered pulse. Fans rushed the field in a frenzied relief gathering at the center logo and chanting “O-S-U!” in unison. The buzz for the Beavers is growing with inflated postseason dreams.
