Any team that has gone undefeated has endured an unexpected adversity. For Oregon, Camp Randall Stadium would be that challenge. Despite the struggles for the Badgers this season, their defense threw punches today against a potent Duck offense. However, Wisconsin’s offense appeared fueled by Xanax and could not create the opportunity that the defense provided.
A chilly night in Madison brought another packed house. A vibrant jump-around at the third quarter’s end was inspired by Wisconsin’s 13-6 lead. But, Oregon used this fourth quarter to define their season – tough and gritty. The Badgers had opportunities, but Duck QB Dillon Gabriel managed the offense and led his team toward a winning field goal drive that deflated Camp Randall.
Oregon and Wisconsin are two teams with similar frustrations – a great history with no national championships. The Ducks now have an outstanding opportunity to erase that glaring gap this season. The Badgers are working toward redefining their scheme, and the growing pains have caused nothing but frustration. Wisconsin is hoping to emulate Oregon’s success in the near future, but for now, they are just a thorn and not a rose.
