Game #365: Eastern Michigan @ Texas State

An atmosphere of hope always colors a new season. As fans filled the town square and playfully jumped in the San Marcos River, the excitement for Texas State football reached a high note. The visiting Eagles from Ypsilanti flew south harboring the same season opener vibes. But, the Bobcats had a large crowd at UFCU Stadium charged to help their team to “Eat ‘Em Up.”

A 7-point Bobcat lead at halftime opened up to blow-out status by game’s end. Quarterback Brad Jackson connected with WR Beau Sparks four times for touchdowns. The electric combination caused fits for the Eagles who also struggled stopping the Texas State rushing attack. The 52-27 final triggered the Victory Star to glow with a maroon hue in celebration of the opening win.

The season is early, but Texas State’s dominance is inspiring for the impending challenges on the schedule and their future move to the Pac-12. Eastern Michigan has some work to do, but the beauty of August is that a full slate of opportunities lie ahead. As Bobcat fans filed out of UFCU Stadium and watched the celebratory drone show overhead, hope grew stronger that Texas State will leave the Sun Belt with a conference title trophy in their hands.
