Game #380: West Georgia @ Kennesaw State

Kennesaw State’s home opener marked just the 128th game in program history. The Owls are still a young program, but they continue to adapt rapidly. A quick ascent to the FBS level once seemed premature, but Kennesaw State is now coming off a Conference USA championship and continuing to prove it belongs.

FCS opponent West Georgia made the 45-mile trek to Kennesaw as the Owls opened their title defense at home.

A lightning delay pushed kickoff back an hour, but fans waited patiently outside the stadium as the storm passed. An expected sellout fell just short because of the weather, but the energy inside still resonated. Those who stayed were rewarded with a dominant 47-0 drubbing of the visiting Wolves.

The football team wasn’t the only winner of the night. The Marching Owls played with passion deep into the fourth quarter, continuing to perform as fans made their way toward the exits.

The freshman class also made its presence felt during the “Flight Run Out,” when first-year students stormed onto the field before kickoff to celebrate their first game as Owls. Their enthusiasm helped create an electric atmosphere and added another memorable moment to the home opener.

With the season underway, Kennesaw State has its sights set on another championship run—and nights like this showed why the Owls believe they can make it happen.
