Jacksonville State suffered a disappointing setback one week earlier, falling decisively to new FBS member North Dakota State. The Gamecocks’ next challenge was to erase that memory and prepare for their home opener. Fortunately for Jax State, Eastern Kentucky showed few signs of posing a serious threat.
A fantastic crowd turned out for Jacksonville State’s first home game of 2026, and the heat did little to slow down a Gamecock offense that quickly found its rhythm. Five touchdown passes highlighted the night as Jacksonville State clobbered the Colonels, 49-7.
Win or lose, the atmosphere at AmFirst Stadium is elevated by one of college football’s greatest bands. The Marching Southerners put on a show that keeps fans glued to their seats long after the final whistle. On this night, the celebration felt even more special as the Gamecocks emphatically got back on track.
