Game #362: Air Force @ Nevada

A record for the season got broken during this game – and it’s not a sexy one. Air Force, like all the academy schools, are known for their run-first method of play. True to form, the Falcons rolled up 318 rushing yards. The eye-popper: Air Force tossed three passes for zero yards. The record? This was the first team to accumulate nothing in the passing yards column and still win.

Both teams have produced uninspired seasons. Nevada’s crowd, typically energetic, felt battle bruised this year. But, with it being senior day, celebrations of accomplished careers played out during gameday. The football players were recognized at the onset of the game. But, at halftime, spirit squad and mascot seniors were given the spotlight. Interestingly, the senior mascots revealed their identity during this honor, which is a rarity in the mascot world.

With one game left on the schedule for each team, neither will make a bowl game. Air Force notched their third straight win, which bodes well for next season. Nevada is riding the struggle bus. But, the fans will be back, as they always are. New season bring renewed optimism. Wolf Pack fans will be ready.
