Some of the preseason hype for Wisconsin flattened last week with a tough loss at Washington State. Returning home to Camp Randall offered the ideal setting for a bounce back. Georgia Southern Carrie’s a significant ability to upset the Badgers especially as they arrive in Madison 2-0. An overcast sky looked down upon two teams eager to ignite momentum for a promising season.
In total yards, Georgia Southern outgained Wisconsin 455-451. But, Eagles’ quarterback David Brin committed six turnovers – a tumultuous obstacle to overcome. Wisconsin QB Tanner Mordecai and RB Braelon Allen each ran for two touchdowns as they pulled away in the second half and emerged with a 35-14 triumph.
It feels like both teams left the field a little deflated. As the fifth quarter revved up and fans danced in the stands, a feeling of uncertainty began to creep in as the Badgers appear to have much to work on. Georgia Southern could have won this game if the ball was treated with more respect. But, a full conference season lies ahead and much can be rectified.
