Madison, Wisconsin became Alabama’s first true road game north of the Mason-Dixon line since they visited Penn State in 2011. This rare regular season matchup between the SEC and Big Ten inspired much intrigue. Holding the Fox Big Noon slot and pregame hype, Madison was jumping around.
Many Crimson Tide supporters made the trek north to experience one of college football’s best gameday experiences. A gorgeous day welcomes fans for this early kick. Lakes Mendota and Monona glistened from the autumn sun as Badger fans beamed with pride to show off their campus.
Once on the gridiron, showing off talent became Alabama’s specialty. Quarterback Jalen Milroe passed and rushed for a combined five touchdowns as the Tide took advantage of many Badger turnovers. Wisconsin lost their starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, to injury early in the first quarter which deflated much of the energy in Camp Randall. A healthy Van Dyke likely wouldn’t have changed the outcome, but the game would have had a chance to be more competitive.
Badger fans stuck around to half heartedly jump around after the third quarter, but then began to find the exits. At the game’s end, a clash of traditions ensued as the Wisconsin band prepped for the fifth quarter and the Bama band hollered their famous Rammer Jammer chant. A smooth domination proved that even with a new coach, Alabama continues their juggernaut status, while Wisconsin has a long road ahead to return to national prominence.
